New Album IN STORES NOW!

Those who know Lorrie Morgan know of her affection for classic songs.  Those who don’t are about to find out.  A Moment In Time, Morgan’s debut for Country Crossing Records, will be released on October 27, 2009.  The album finds Morgan putting her own tender touch on some comfortable classics.

Morgan, who made her first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry at age 13 performing Anita Bryant’s “Paper Roses” and who later covered the Beach Boys’ “Don’t Worry Baby” with the band’s blessing, makes herself at home with classics like “Are You Lonesome Tonight?,” “Misty Blue” and Merle Haggard’s “I’m Always On A Mountain When I Fall.”  She moves easily from honky tonk classics such as “Wine Me Up” and “Lovin’ On Backstreets,” to the turn-back-time string laden-production of Johnny Ray’s 1951 hit, “Cry.”

Produced by Wally Wilson (Joan Baez, Lonestar), the set also features Morgan duets with traditionalist Tracy Lawrence (on the Conway and Loretta classic “After The Fire Is Gone”) and crooner Raul Malo (on Freddie Hart’s “Easy Lovin’”). “Break It To Me Gently,” a hit for Brenda Lee and later for Juice Newton, and “I’ll Sign The Papers,” which was recorded by Mel Tillis, Ray Price as well as Morgan’s father, George Morgan, are among the other songs that find new life through Morgan’s loving care.

Morgan’s take on these outstanding classics will make A Moment In Time an instant classic.  Buy the album now wherever great music is sold, including online retailers iTunes (http://bit.ly/8DM3G5) and Amazon (http://bit.ly/7jhuZt).

Located in Dothan, Alabama Country Crossing is strategically situated within a 300 mile radius of approximately 26.8 million people (Branson and Orlando, FL have 19.4 and 16.6 million people respectively).  The project is located directly on heavily travelled Highway 231, which exposes the site to in excess of 5 million cars per year.  A new major toll road is also planned for the region with an entry and exit in close proximity of Country Crossing.  The new Panama City International Airport, currently under construction and slated to open in May, 2010, is only 65 miles to the south, as are the sugar-white beaches and emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Lorrie Morgan Is "Pure Country"

Multi-platinum country music star Lorrie Morgan has been cast in the Broadway-bound production of the hit movie, Pure Country.  Morgan joins fellow country music star Joe Nichols to headline the new musical that is expected to open on Broadway in early 2010. As previously announced, Nichols takes on the role of ‘Rusty’ (‘Dusty’ in the movie), which was made famous in the film by George Strait. Morgan now joins him to play the role of ‘Lula,’ Rusty’s ruthless manager, which was created on film by Lesley Anne Warren.

“The PURE COUNTRY family is absolutely overjoyed to welcome Lorrie Morgan,” producer Wreghitt said.  “To have a Country music star of her caliber sets the artistic bar high and brings additional authenticity to the show.   The combination of Joe Nichols and Lorrie Morgan promises to be a dream collaboration for country music fans and for everyone who sees the show. We couldn’t be more excited and proud to bring Pure Country and Lorrie Morgan to Broadway.”

Morgan is equally enthusiastic about the opportunity. “I never thought my life’s path would take me to Broadway, but when I heard they were creating a musical based on one of Country music’s best-loved films, I knew I had to be part of it,” Lorrie said. “I’m very excited about making my Broadway debut and becoming part of the Theater community. I’m also looking forward to working with Joe Nichols. He’s an amazing talent and I hope Country fans come on up to the big city to see us!”
